Cheney's Shotgun Episode
Cheney the Drunk Home While I cannot prove that Dick Cheney was drunk when he gunned down his friend while quail hunting, the problem for Cheney is that he will never be able to prove that he was not drunk. He has said that he had a beer. Now, I like beer just as well as the next guy. But when Cheney says that there was drinking going on prior to having shot his buddy then that is significant. This is a very important point. The reason is because most friends talk with police, and most friends go to the hospital with their "friends" and they come clean if they have an accident that results in injuries to their friends, because they want the record to show that they are above reproach. They don't wait til the next day to speak with the sheriff. These are all things Cheney did not do. The obvious implication must be that he was hiding, that he did not want public contact, that he did not want to speak with the sheriff, that he was drunk with a mixture of his medication and alcohol. It is not good enough that Cheney believes that he can do whatever he wants in the manipulation of events. It is not proof that he was sober. He can NEVER prove that he was sober. He can NEVER prove that he was sober because he didn't do what was necessary to establish his sobriety. Dick Cheney is so good at lying that it is difficult to tell when he is lying. But to leave the explanation of events to the owner of the property, who said there was no alcohol served at lunch is just too suspect. If Cheney was not in such a habit of lying about almost everything that has to do with Iraq and foreign policy then perhaps it would be easier to overcome this behavior of the Vice President with regard to the quail hunting incident. But for a V.P. who stretches ethics, who has sanctioned some torture no doubt, who has dragged the US into an unwinable war, who has dragged the reputation of the United States deeply into the dirt, this quail incident is really the last straw. There will come a time to vote out the Democrats again, but it is now time to vote out the Republicans for their total misuse of power. See
